Do It With Them, Not For Them

You don’t need a perfect house.
You don’t need a quiet kitchen.
You don’t need everything done “the right way.”
What you’re building is something bigger than that.
When you include your children in everyday life—the cooking, the cleaning, the errands—you’re not just getting through your to-do list…
You’re teaching them how to live.
You’re showing them:
How to contribute
How to try
How to be part of a family, not just cared for by one
Yes, it will take longer.
Yes, it will get louder.
Yes, it will be messy.
But that mess? That noise? That slower pace?
That’s where the learning is happening.
Because one day…
You won’t have to ask them to help.
They’ll just do it.
You won’t have to remind them how to take care of themselves.
They’ll already know.
You won’t be raising children who wait to be served—
You’ll be raising capable, confident humans who know they belong and that they matter.
Every time you pause and say,
“Come help me,” instead of “I’ll do it,”
You’re planting something.
It may not look like much in the moment—
a spilled cup, a crooked bed, flour on the floor—
But you’re building:
Confidence
Independence
Work ethic
Connection
And those things don’t come from perfection.
They come from practice.
So the next time it feels easier to do it alone…
Remember:
You’re not just raising kids.
You’re raising future adults.
Adults who will know how to cook a meal, take care of a home, solve problems, and show up for others.
And that starts right here—
In the middle of your everyday, imperfect, beautiful life.
Include them.
Even when it’s hard.
Even when it’s slow.
Even when it’s not perfect.
Because one day, you’ll look back and realize…
Those weren’t interruptions.
They were the moments that built everything. 🤍
